11th Annual D-Low Memorial Show - 08/31/07
September 04, 2007 4:23:00 PM UTC Post #11

sorry dudes, but i've been bogged down by reformatting pics, transcribing interviews, converting videos... not to mention the fact that i had to move all my shit into a new house on saturday/sunday and that the first day of my university (5 classes) is today and that i work at a real job 30 hours per week. so, actually fuck off; i'm not sorry.

cavalera conspiracy was incredible and it's a mix of sounds that i don't think anyone has ever heard before. i can only properly compare to soulfly, sepultura, nailbomb, gojira, maybe morbid angel, and even bad brains. it's hardcore meets death metal meets thrash meets cavaleras.

from what i understand, roadrunner records isn't going to let me put up any of the :30+ second long videos that i recorded of a few snippets from conspiracy's set. when we posted the demo, max was between contracts so he was free to do whatever he wanted with his music, but now soulfly has resigned with roadrunner and conspiracy's music is now distributed (owned) by roadrunner records as well. who knows though, there were plenty of people in the camera pit and in the backstage area with cameras during their set, so something eventually might surface.. if it doesn't though, so be it; that only means that this years d-low show will remain even more special for the select few who were able to attend..

interviews with each member will be posted weekly, beginning on friday morning with a video interview with max and culminating with an interview with igor at the end of october.

soulfly enters the porch studios in florida next week to begin tracking album #6

it's going to be a good fucking year.

If you readers don't like Inflikted/Conspiracy when you finally get to hear it, there is something seriously wrong with you. I obviously can't speak for the album cause I haven't heard it but the songs live were incredible. I heard a more hardcore/metal sound myself. Sounds like what I would imagine Sepultura would be doing today if Max & Igor stayed. But that's not to say it sounded like a rehash of the Sepultura sound, it sounds to me like the evolution of the Cavalera brothers. It sounds amazing live and will probably sound even better when/if they do a tour and have a few more practices & shows under their belt. SPOILER ALERT: Marc sang backup on one of the songs and it was great. The bassist Joe is great & fun to watch live (classic headbanging and all). And Igor hasn't lost anything in his playing.

I wish they had recorded the show for a DVD release. It was definitely metal history.

Ryan, Dennis, Manny: It was great to meet you guys and hang out. I hope you come out to NYC when the Tribe plays here. You'll definitely have a place to crash.

def. best show i ever saw. that was cuz it kicked ass and cuz the significance of situation you know??? anyways, The Conspiracy kicks ass.
it' will hopefully satisfy people like myself who have wanted some more speed' and back to str8 punky/death thrash you know??? marc has killer back up vocals, and marc shreddds like the goddamn mad man shredder he is on this. it's tremendous

soulfly kicked fucking ass as well. i got to see "orgasmatron" which i had never actually had the chance to see live. that was fucking great!!!

Ritchie's vocals sound much more brutaller. a lot more brutal than his performances with incite and even guest wit soulfly performances...
it'll be cool to see what he brought to the table 4 this fucking collab. wit the Cavalera Conspiracy!

it was great to meet Dennis,Ryan,Manny and know that the Tribe is strong as ever and it keeps getting better and better. the musical evolution, live dedication, live intensity, and vibe are just fucking more and more insane every time i have ever seen Max. its something so special man. its just something i live to see and enjoy the hell out of it and respect how lucky I am that I live in Phoenix.

thanks 4 the welcome.
as far as chances to meet Max on the street, there is a chance of course. I have not done so, but i've seen em be4. one time i wuz going to Best Buy' on christmas eve, and he was leaving with a bunch of stereo equipment and some friends i believe. i had a soulfly windbreaker on which im pretty sure he saw, but it's not like me to just go walk up to em. i wouldn't want it to be like that. a buddy of mine worked at walgreens(store) and he was developing film, and one day max walked in and str8 handed em tour film to develop. i know a lot of people who know people that know the fam. and shit or people claim they know neighbors and this and that. for me though, it's not really a big thing. Max is just fucking Max and it's so cool to see an artist whose a person as well as an artist.
