Hi there,

my review will be a bit different than the others I've read here ^Soulfy are the best^, ^best concert ever^, bla bla. Hope I'll won't be flamed and bashed here for not aggreeing to the above statements.

First of all the Songs that were played:
Soulfly: Eye, Bleed, Tribe
Prim: Prim, Jump/Bring
3: Seek, Tree
Proph: Proph, Living, Exec, Mars, Born Again
Dark: Babylon, I&I, Carved, Arise, Frontlines
Sepultura: Refuse, Roots, Policia

The audience responded in a great way, there was a lot of moshing going around, great atmosphere. Marc Rizzo is awesome. Seriously speaking: If Marc wouldn't be in Soulfly it would be boring as hell. Marc plays very precisely and in the same jumps around and stuff. Max' voice was great, what else do you expect? BUT WHY THE HELL DOES HE PLAY GUITAR? You can't hear his guitar! And most of the time, when Marc plays a solo he goes behind the stage and he doesn't play his guitar anymore (I could see it). WTF?

I must confess, I am more into old-school Metal, I love Beneath The Remains, Arise and Chaos A.D. (unfortunenatly they only played 3 Sepu-Songs (I saw Soulfly in 2004 and they played Mass Hypnosis, Inner Self, Territory, Wasting Away,...)) and right now I more and more hope of a Sepultura reunion, even though Max has the best musicians he ever had in Soulfly.

you have no idea do you?

Max plays rythm...he suplements the main guitar line...thats why he only has 4 strings!

when Rizzo plays a solo, depending on the song, max either plays rythm or dosent play at all...coz the solo is already inuff...but trust me, Max's guitar part is important to the overall voliume of the band

here is not going to be a Sepultura reunion!!!!
how naive are you?!
Max himself said it, that he dosent want to disturb the image of the old Sepultura and the new...that it shuld remain as it is for the fans...

also what wuld it be like for Derrick and the rest of Soulfly!? ever thoat of that?....one day coming up and saying, ok we dont need you anymore...

THERE WILL BE NO REUNION!

Soulfly is gonna go its way and Sepultura another...

No, you are right he plays the rhythm parts, but where's the rhythm part when leads are played? IMO he has been getting a bit lazy concerning playing guitar.

hmmm, i like them the way they are...
i think they have good balance..
and you should hear soulfl without the rhythm guiter...

when marc plays a solo, max hides behind the stage, it's a kind of respect : ^now Marc plays - he's leader now!^

my thoughts are the same..

well, i haven't a great idea about guitarstrings and stuff, but i have to say, that i didn't like the sound as a whole. to me it also seemed, that it wasn't an exaggeratet drum and bass sound, as it's often the case on live gigs in general, but it was really hard to differenciate a melody in this single wall of guitar-drone. i regard myself as someone, who can bang his head to the most shitty sound, but i had really no motivation to dance to this.
of course, the soli were great, but as soon as max started to play, i couldn't even hear which song they were playing.

another thing which disappointed me as a soulfly fan was the lack of spirit. my expectation was, that max would say a few sentences before each song, adress the crowd and so on. instead they rattled off one song after another.
fuckin' hell, they sell t-shirts dedicated to d-low and moses, have all this religious/spiritual stuff in their lyrics and they don't lose a word about this- so where's the i n n e r s p i r i t ?
all in all, this wasn't what i expected of my first soulfly gig.
but i'd always go to see them again, this has to be an exception after all...
