Posts: 397 Member #: 100,007 Joined: 09/02/2010	This is my mom,she has gone through so much the past year. Despite being blind from diabetes since 1996,she just lost both of her legs as well. She got amputated above her right knee in August of 2006 and amputated above her left knee in January 2007. I'm at the nursing home where she now lives just about 5 days out of the week. I attempt to get over there as much as possible. She is a tough woman and defines the term "to tolerate pain." Diabetes can take a toll on an individual. My mom getting to this point has made me start a local 2 day metal diabetes research benefit shows that will take place in October. All the money will go towards research for the younger kids that have to live longer with this disease. Society is very uneducated with knowledge of what diabates can do to a person.
