In 1997 Max had few live performances: Palying "Head Up" with Deftones and then introducing his new band (Soulfly) @ NPA, French TV Channel Doiung guest vocals for Deftones on songs "Head Up" and "Engine No 9" on 30.10.1997 @ Club Rio, Tempe, AZ, USA Played with Dub War on song "Strike It" on 24.07.1997 @ Randall's Island Max jammed with Nacao Zumbi ("Monologo ao pe do Ouvido", "Da Lama ao Caos", "Territory","Hip Hop Jam a au Moins") on 20.04.1997 @ Palco Principal, Abril Pro Rock, Recife, Brasil 2 Spoken Word: 1997. Max Cavalera Spoken Word at CMJ's New Music Marathon, New York, USA 1997. Max Cavalera Spoken Word at Holland's Crossing Boarder Festival, Holland Max was guest on Deftones - Around The Fur and Pavilhao 9 - Cadeia Nacional studio albums, both from 1997

Claustrofobia was just kids in 1997 and max give him a chance to open Soulfly. hte second band was Devotos do odio Max is a great man.
