hanks man, your concern is appreciated lots. everyone i know is ok, but traffic is going to be a fucking mess for the next few years. it takes me 30 minutes to get through downtown to my favorite record shop, rather than 5 minutes.
my vacation was UNBELIVEABLE. so much happened, and i'll write up a bit of a recap/report when i get my photos uploaded... my only regrets? 1. didn't get time to meet with gus (brasilporrada) 2. didn't get time to meet with andrew (gelardia) 3. my broke ass friends didn't bring enough money.

finally, here is my trip to new york city from minneapolis in photographs.
WARNING FOR DIALUP USERS: there's a lot of photos.
leaving my high school town of la crescent. we are very optimistic about our vacation. i'm on the left, nick is in the middle, and my roomate aaron is on the right.
gas is fucking expensive, but it's way cheaper (and more fuel efficient) for four of us to drive than to take a plane. this is my friend terry.
his is my friend nick
...and the drive begins
stopping for a cheap lunch in wisconsin along i-90. for the uneducated, our classic green coleman cooler is a tell-tale sign of our minnesotan citizenship.
cruising through chicago on their tollway.
nick and i making our way into indiana
going through a fucking tornado warning area on our way through eastern pennsylvania. we got some badass video footage of this storm from inside our car while listening to isis.
four of us getting blazing happy.
pennsylvania is an interesting part of the country.
we're almost to ny!

our room at chateau wellington. it was small, but we planned to spend most of our time partying in the city anyway.
we came prepared..
sipping on some gin and making plans before we see the city for the first time. i think gus called soon after this began.
new york city. busiest area of america. we came at a great time; friday night in july.
me and terry in the background observing the chaos. i'm used to living in a big city (500,000 in minneapolis/st. paul, and a few million in the area) but this is wayyy bigger than that.
me and terry using our super powers (gin and brandy, respectively) to pull stupid poses in times square.
12:00am
we had to take a piss, so we wondered up some stairs, and realized we were in the filming studio for that retarded american woman's talk show, the view. in our minds, it was worth taking a picture.
going to the pub's in brooklyn with some ladie friends of ours. we hung out with brother ali at one bar, a minneapolis hip hop veteran and rhymesays ent. artist. he was playing the paid dues stage at rock the bells the next day and was getting some drinks before he went to sleep for the night!
friends of ours from winona, mn. they are interning in ny and showed us some excellent drink spots our first night in town!
aking our chances on the subway from brooklyn to manhattan island at 4 am.

me and terry get a picture underneath the world-famous late show marquee on our trip back to the hotel.
he view down 52nd street in the early hours of the morning on the west coast of our nation.
one last drink before lights out..
early to rise; it's the day of rock the bells, the hip hop festival with ratm, wutang, cypress hill, black star, immortal technique, jedi mind tricks, cage, felt, pharaoe monche and lots of others..
early attenders for the festival. this is when we arrived at 12 pm
sage francis
felt (aka SLUG and MURS)

he suns going down on a hot day and wu-tangs about to take the stage.

rage against the machine! the mosh pit at this show was incredibly intense and crazy. all the songs they played we're brilliant, and everyone there knew every word to every song; a highlight of my life to be sure!

leaving our brief home away from home at hotel wellington!

we stop to visit the remains of the world trade center disaster of 2001 gaze upon the site of the massacre before we leave the city.

luckily, we also got a chance to see the statue of liberty before we left, as well (even though it was foggy)
..and the empire state builiding.
another random hotel in massachusetts.
he coast along boston's harbor.
he grave of sam adams, a leader of men. he also makes an excellent lager.
a second in the life of the south side of the boston commons.
he architecture of boston is much different than what i'm used to.
leaving boston to begin the journey back to minnesota.
our pit stop at the niagra falls

we went over to canada for a few hours while we were at the border to gamble and to legally drink some beers.

getting cooked in our cheap hotel room on the last night before we come home.

long
fucking
drive
and then i get home to find out that the main bridge in my area, three blocks from where i live, is destroyed. it was quite a week, from the highest highs to the lowest lows. and experience i'll never forget..
