If you're a beginner, go for a multi-effect. That way you can experiment with loads of things and start the quest for your own sound. I'd recommend a Boss GT-6B. I had the guitar version of that thing, and it's just amazing. Very complete pedal with a huge amount of parameters, it has midi when you need it, ... The sound that comes from the unit is more than decent. It might set you back around $300 but it's certainly worth it. You can go for a cheaper pedal too, but you'll have lots less fun and quality.

once you get the hang of it you can hop on a RT-20 Rotary Sound Processor...that thing is a beast!

Se o derrubarem sete vezes, levante-se oito.
