I remember one guy of the crew arguing with the crowd about his camera. Don't know which year.

Yeah, it's the same here, but it's possible to smuggle the camera in. And there's no problem if you have a high-resolution camera on your phone.

Max Cavalera: I don't care. I'm a bootlegger myself. I used to buy alot of bootlegs.
Ryan Buege: Because I know that there is alot of Soulfly shows available.
Max Cavalera: I don't want to hear them, because I know how sloppy my guitar playing is. (laughs) But if people are digging them, then that's cool.

his sounds good I hope to make an audio recording of an upcoming show next month for my personal collection and sharing/trading if it is allowed.....I am not a "bootlegger" and do not sell or profit from any of my recordings, it is my hobby. Thanks to all for the replies so far...

It's a nice "souvenir" to have the concert you've been and listen back to it...
....actually you always lose money yourself by taping...getting a "tape", "disc", "mini-disc" to record on...you always lose money on taping...

...and maybe after all...If you were in a band yourself and people actually "bootleg'z" your band you should be really happy that someone gives a sh*t...it means that you're actually doing music worth listening to...

Most rock / metalbands says it's alright for them to be "boot:ed" but as some of you mentioned, it is sometimes their managers / staff that are a little bit grumpy and without the people coming to the concerts and sharing the emotions later for the rest of the fans, they would not even have a job...so I think that everyone these days understands that it is really good promotion for the all the bands....

If a band plays in Uzbekistan one day and in Bolivia next week it's great for the fans in Australia, Norway or Alaska to also hear it....Music is about sharing a nice time together with other people...concerts is about not only the music itself but also the whole "athmosphere" with the crowd and so on....

After all a audience-recording usually is not as good as any official stuff anyway...so it's not a big deal....Also, if you want to make money on Live-concerts just do like for example "The LEVELLERS" or "DEPECHE MODE"...record ALL the concerts and then sell them after the concerts or put up on the web and sell them for a "nice price"....then the audience get a "nice memory" and the band get some money too...or like other bands do....record every concert and then make 1 CD with the "best" from the tour....then sell it "in limited edition" for around 5.000 Copies...that way the recordcompany will not mind.....And maybe most important of all...start your own recordcompany...that way the Band will get the money not the evul managers and so on....do it yourself = more fun, more to the band...

Music is a shared experience and will always be...or your music will never see the light...just keep it for yourself and maybe pretend having concerts with "pre-recorded handclaps"...hehe...

Enjoy the music and the concerts...If you like your fans who buys your CD:s, T-Shirts and Concerts-tickets let them be part of the "show"....let them listen to your great work...

I saw something similar in Timisoara, Romania in 2006. But Gloria came to someone who was filming with a cell phone

On this year Soulfly concert it wasn't allowed to film or to take photos even with a cell phone.
