Posts: 1861 Member #: 99,857 Joined: 09/03/2010	i know the topic about the sign got locked, which i think shouldnt have been done, cuz there was never a real answer to what it actually stands for and i get why people wanna know wat it stands for cuz when i wanted to get the tribal tattoed i really wanted to know wat it stood for as well, and so far there has been nothing but rumors about wat that sign means and noone could tell, even thou it is explained in the soulflys s/t 25th roadrunner anniversary edition, max explains wat the sign means in the booklet. i just went to my local cd shop to check it out, it has a really amazingly nice booklet and its really worth the money. well as far as wat i remember wat max said about the sign was that he had the japanese letters(probably the word soulfly) and send it to this tattoo artist from the philippines who lives in L.A. and told him to design a logo that looks like somehting with wings that is rising, like the phoenix rising from its ashes. and he also send him a pic of the tribal that he has as a necklace, most soulfly fans will know wat it is, its a tribal that looks like the bottom of the soulfly sign, looks like its made out of bone and hes had it for a long time and never took it off, it was given to him by a fan from new zealand who told him it was his tribes tribal. well max also gave the tattoo artist that tribal and told him he wanted him to design the bottom of the tribal to look like that new zealand tribal. so that tattoo artist made the soulfly logo the way max wanted it, and i guess it stands for something that arises. i hope that helps you people that wanted to know about it!
