My Brother has Warwick Vampire and I think it has an awesome metal bass shape to it. Some of the other models aren't too attractive though.

I play on a Squier precision bass .
(about 300 $ : I bought it 5 years ago : 1750 French Francs, since, we changed oney, turned to Euros.. new price is 300 Euros... and 1 Euro is about 1.40 $ so... )

It's a good bass. Not great but not a fucking shit !! Only default : IT'S HEAVY (not the sound... the weight !!! ) !!

My brother bought a bass from this website because he wanted a cheap Fender Bass. I have played on it and I am impressed by the quality....I don't think you can go wrong, especially if you are on a budget.

^Get a Squier ...^ That was priceless!!!

I don't know what the topicstarter likes in a bass, but I'd say Fender P or J basses are good allrounders. For metal or hardrock, you might want to check the LTD 400 series (not sure about the number). Those have EMG pickups and an active circuit, quite versatile basses.

Squiers and Fender are very cool i think (and I heard !) because they aren't made in order to play one musical style or one other musical style.. they're polyvalent..
