Hey guys what do you think about this "new" conflict?
I think it's just a fight between US and Russia, I mean US supports Georgia but Russia supports Ossetia, and if Georgia has started this war, US gave them a permission. It's a new fight US vs Russia but who are the victims? Of course innocent citizens including children and old people...
As Max says in "For Those About To Rot" - "Fuck you and your war, Why presidents don't die in war?"

Yeah not now when they're already fighting wars on two fronts...plus there's not much oil in Georgia I'm sure or they would have militarily bitchslapped Russia by now.

Looks like Russia trying to put Georgia back under its thumb. I believe I read one news report that stated the Russian assault was a result of Georgian aggression in South Ossetia, but Georgian forces have withdrawn from Ossetia and Russian is continuing to flex its muscle. U.S. is in no position to do anything other than standard diplomatic moves. Europe/NATO needs to get more involved in resolving this dispute.

As far as I know the Russians have always thought Georgia belongs to them. So I wouldn't be surprised if they used this chance to take it over once and for all.

But Ossetia is georgian territory and Georgia wants to take it back and Russia attacks georgian forces and georgian territory as well. So why Russia can almost destroy russian territory Chechnya but attacks when georgians want to take back theirs own?

I'm not trying to defend Georgia or Russia. I think ztl_olmi's assessment of the situation is on target.
