I think it's just a fight between US and Russia, I mean US supports Georgia but Russia supports Ossetia, and if Georgia has started this war, US gave them a permission. It's a new fight US vs Russia but who are the victims? Of course innocent citizens including children and old people... I believe I read one news report that stated the Russian assault was a result of Georgian aggression in South Ossetia, but Georgian forces have withdrawn from Ossetia and Russian is continuing to flex its muscle. U.S. is in no position to do anything other than standard diplomatic moves. Europe/NATO needs to get more involved in resolving this dispute. "Fuck Communists!"

But Ossetia is georgian territory and Georgia wants to take it back and Russia attacks georgian forces and georgian territory as well.
