like i said, for now, i'm along for the ride. it all depends on a few things. i won't get into that unless it actually comes to something worth mentioning...

right now, life goes on as usual for the most part. i'm in the process of transferring 90% of the info that was on the classic Soulfly Web site to the official web properties. we'll launch the new site once I can get some of the core stuff uploaded. ...as news continues to leak on the web, i'll continue to post it. in the future, that might change, but i'm not sure now.

It is too bad that Roadrunner or Soulfly has not hired you and fairly compensated you for all the work you've done to ensure that Soulfly supporters have a place to gather on the internet. You have done an awesome job!

It has been a long time so my memories may not be accurate but wasn't the soulfly forum originally on the roadrunner website? I started out posting there back in 2001-2002 but the forum was destroyed by spammers and that is when Kristoff started his forum. I may have the details wrong, but I was under the impression that Soulfy(mainly Gloria) didn't want an official Soulfly forum for a longtime because of the overly critical comments about Soulfly, Max, and Gloria.

Going to see Soulfly tonight and I can hardly wait!

Anyway, I've been talking more to Roadrunner over the last few weeks and after some suggestions to them it looks like things probably won't be as different as I first believed... They'll be manning the back-end and the design of the site and I'll maintain a lock and key on the content we're putting onto the properties... Shouldn't be any issues with a spam spree going off once the changes are implemented... Wheels are in motion on everything else I mentioned. The new site is neraly done and will likely be premiered online early next week.

Just wanted to pass on a heads up to all of you who continue to visit and support SoulflyWeb... Many changes are on the way. After 10 years hosting the site here and 5 years administering all the band's web properties (myspace, facebook, youtube, merch, ilike, etc., etc.) on my private accounts and servers, Roadrunner has decided to take a much more aggressive participatory role in the administration of these properties. In private discussion I'd be glad to tell you what I think about these changes, but just let it be known that, at the very most, I'm along for the ride.

The website (soulflyweb.com) will be transitioned into a much more blog oriented format and will be hosted on and integrated into the roadrunner labels vast private artist network.

The forum will also be adapted to the label's network forum format (i.e. which will (as of now) not be phpbb, vbulletin or any well-developed platform, and thus will likely be a muchless capable platform..). just an FYI. for the most part, it shouldn't be a big deal. the most current soulflyweb forum database will be carried over at the time the updates are made, so all of the post, topic, account, etc. information will be retained and none of the important stuff contained here will be lost...

I'm led to belive that myspace and facebook likely will be retooled to re-post anything that is churned out of the official webblog's rss..

I really don't know the specifics, but that's all I can assume to know right now. No word on when any of this may occur. Expect sooner rather than later.

As for the current host I use... I plan to redirect the host to a new dotcom which will function as my portfolio. I've been careful to keep a careful archive of the site and will do my best to republish the many versions of classic soulflyweb as soon as I get the time. Stay tuned to the forum to be informed if this happens. In the meantime, I'll be busy doing work which puts food on my table.
__

cheers
Ryan

it's all bittersweet man. after all the years, the interest is still actually surprisingly still there; i'm busy updating some part of the system with new info on a daily basis. however i'm grown up now, many other things require my attention, and without any compensation to speak of i cannot continue to justify spending the large amount of time that I do to maintain all of these properties by myself.

hough i may disagree with the decision to make some of these changes (mainly because i'm fearful that the label will start abusing the properties as spam machines around album release time and then will leave the sites to be dormant and stagnant during the in-between time), i'm honestly quite satisfied that the label was the one who was proactive with the decision to become much more "participatory". ..in fact, i've been insisting that someone from the label or the management or the band or someone other than me would have become much more involved with the sites a long long time ago; i'll be the first to admit that alot of these changes are overdue. from my perspective, it will be both good and bad, and i'm interested to see what the final "product" looks like as well.

i'll still be around, and will try to keep my editing eye active, but will definitely be stepping back to a much more reserved roll.
